3Com's OfficeConnect switches are designed for small business, branch office and home office environments. The OfficeConnect Switch 400 is ideal for effortless migration between 10Mbps and 100Mbps. It features four, unmanaged Fast Ethernet 10/100 autosensing ports for server or backbone connection. It auto-negotiates full and half-duplex on all ports, doubling throughput when ports are connected to other auto-negotiating, full-duplex devices. The 10/100 autosensing ports automatically determine and adjust to the speed of the connected device. The OfficeConnect Switch 400 features full wire-rate switching to eliminate bottlenecks that restrict data flow and delay traffic. It has an MDI/MDI-X switch to allow connection to a workstation or another Ethernet hub, supporting connection of up to four hubs in a stack. The OfficeConnect's unique CoolCurve design creates a self-ventilating network stack that eliminates the need for cooling fans in most OfficeConnect components. The design is also compact to save space. The switch includes diagnostic LEDs to indicate packet receipt, packet collision and port status. The Alert LED indicates excessive network use or a partitioned 10Base-T port.
