Description:
The SuperStack II NETBuilder 427 full router comes with 1 Ethernet port, 1 ISDN BRI WAN port, and 1 RS-232 WAN port. Supported WAN protocols include PPP, Frame Relay, X.25, and SMDS. Routing protocol support includes IP, IPX, DLSw, XNS, AppleTalk, DECnet, VINES, and OSI. The 427 can act as a central site router in support of other protocol-limited SuperStack II NETBuilder routers in remote locations. This router is part of 3Com's complete family of SuperStack NETBuilder platforms. These remote access products offer extensive upgradability and the choice of routing in SuperStack platforms or stand-alone configurations. Cost-saving WAN features include industry-standard data compression, bandwidth-on-demand, smart filters, and dial-on-demand support. For IBM support, SuperStack II NETBuilder products offer 3Com's Boundary Routing system architecture optimized for SNA, BAN for native SNA over Frame Relay, and Data Link Switching (DLSw) to tunnel SNA and NetBIOS traffic over IP networks. With Boundary Routing architecture, the remote device does not need to perform packet routing, route management, or network management. It only has to decide whether to pass each packet to the WAN.
