Description:
AIT format sets a new performance standard for high-density storage tape systems. The SDX series is the world's highest capacity tape drive and media system offering both a rapid transfer rate and breakthrough data access times. The "intelligent" component of Sony's AIT technology is the Memory in Cassette (MIC) and drive interface system. A memory chip containing the tape's log file is built into the data cartridge allowing files to be accessed by advancing directly to the correct position on the tape. This helps to give the Sony SDX system a Mean Time to Data Access (MTDA) rating double the speed of current competing solutions. The SDX-700C series drive is an AIT-3 Internal Drive with Wide 160 Ultra SCSI SE / LVD Interface. It is backward compatible with AIT-1 and AIT-2 data cartridges. It features a high reliability with MTBF of 400,000 POH (100% duty cycle), head life of 50,000 hours, and media uses of 30,000 end-to-end passes.
